Chapter History

Small Beginnings…

Edwin Suarez Jr and Pedro Villanueva became friends after attending Summer Start at Syracuse University.

The two quickly became friends being that both shared The Bronx as their home and Puerto Rico as their heritage. Edwin had stumbled up Lambda Sigma Upsilon Latino Fraternity Inc, after meeting a brother in his high school years. The imagery and emotions that came from that first encounter stayed with Edwin until he arrived at Syracuse University for his freshmen year.

After seeing Edwin’s passion for the organization, Pedro had then too decided that he wanted to the join the movement that was brewing across the state.

The Power of  Three, Morgan, Pedro, and Edwin pictured below

After many failed attempts to begin a chapter on their own, the two had begun their search for a third person to join their vision of beginning a chapter. After noting the remarkable potential seen in freshman Morgan Feliz, the two set their mind on convincing him to join the team.

However, that too proved to be unsuccessful. Morgan had declined on the offer to join and the two were left with nothing of vision of what could become.

Tragedy Strikes

Regardless of the decision, the three (Edwin, Pedro, and Morgan) still hung out.

Towards the end of the fall semester the 3 had decided to go to a party a near by school. After a long night of dancing and partying, the 3 had decided to take the trip back to Cuse’.

Tragedy struck that morning. On the way back from the party, the 3 had hit a deer on the highway. In hitting the deer the car was launched off the highway and flipped over. 2 out of the 3 were able to walk away with minor bruises, however Morgan was left with a broken neck.

The Comeback

Despite the accident, the experience had served as a reminder to Morgan of just how precious life is. This lesson pushed him forward and with a broken neck he decided to take on the process of starting the chapter with Edwin and Pedro.

….Quite sometime later on April 18th, 2004, The Invincible Archias Chapter of Lambda Sigma Upsilon Latino Fraternity Inc was found.
